Pearson invite you to take part in our specially designed simulation to get the best market share with your ground-breaking marketing plan. Compete with top marketing students selected by Spanish and Portuguese universities and other educational institutions. A unique experience to learn, practise, compete and win!

Our mission is to help people progress in their lives through learning. We understand that for the majority of students education has one clear end purpose, employment: employment is the ultimate outcome of what we do at Pearson.

For this reason we have created the Pearson Challenge:
Marketing Championship of the Year

Who is it for?
  • For Spanish and Portuguese universities, business schools and educational institutions who want to accept the challenge and put forward a group of students to represent them in the competition.
  • For lecturers who teach courses of marketing in the above mentioned institutions.
  • For students taking courses in marketing in the institution mentioned above who have a good understanding of English.

• Allows teachers to use their contact time with students more efficiently
• Allows participants to compete with other Spanish and Portuguese students in order to get the best results

They will:

• Be able to apply theory to a practical case
• Learn how to use critical thinking
• Learn and interact in an attractive and entertaining environment
• Practise social skills such as effective communication, problem solving, negotiation, team work and how to analyse verbal and financial data
• Put into practice a diverse range of skills necessary to meet the challenge   

TEAMS

Number of teams: 8 teams from different universities, business schools and other educational institutions.

Number of participant per team:
4 students chosen by their teacher and/or institution

Requirements:
students should be graduates, chosen by their teacher and have a good level of English (ideally they have already followed a course in a marketing subject).
The team can count on the support of a mentor or tutor (their teacher who can help and advise the team).

DATES

Final day for enrolment: 20th of October 2017

Confirmation of participants: 27nd of October 2017
Participants will receive an email to confirm their participation as one of the 8 teams taking part.

Registration of participants: 3rd of November 2017
Pearson will be responsible for the registration of participants.

Instructions for participants: 6th of November 2017
Registered participants will each be given access information and instructions on how to familiarise themselves with the tools of the simulation before embarking on the challenge.

Challenge start date: 13th of November at 9.00 am.
Challenge finish date: 22nd of November at 12.00 pm.
Prize giving: 1st of December 2017

The prize giving ceremony will take place in Madrid. If the winning team lives outside Madrid, Pearson will cover travel expenses of both students and their teacher.

FIRST PRIZE
- The university will be given an exclusive plaque as the winner of the Pearson Challenge
- The lecturer of the winning team will be given access to our specially designed simulation MyMarketingExperience to use for one whole academic year with their marketing students
- The winning students will receive:
- A bestselling Marketing book
- A gift voucher worth 300 euros 
- A paid trip to Madrid to attend the award ceremony
- A Welcome Pack while spending the morning with our Marketing team at Pearson, a leading multinational company in the field of education, getting to know first- hand how Marketing is done in a real company and meet the Director General.

SECOND PRIZE
The winning students will receive:
- A bestselling Marketing book
- A gift voucher worth 200 euros

THIRD PRIZE
The winning students will receive:
- A bestselling Marketing book
- A gift voucher worth 100 euros

  • participants must have successfully completed the 8 Quarters of the challenge
  • participants must have completed work in the time frame established from the start to the finish of the challenge.

Prizes for winning teams:

  • participants must have successfully completed the 8 Quarters of the challenge
  • participants must have completed work in the time frame established from the start to the finish of the challenge.
  • participants have received first, second or third place out of the 8 participating teams based on the analysis of the parameters built into the simulation. The analysis is automatic and based on a number of areas: Key Performance, Strategic Decisions and Tactical Actions (more detail will be available in the instructions sent to participants).

My marketing experience

MyMarketingExperience is an online simulation covering the 7 Ps of Marketing based on the textile sector, specifically on the jeans’ industry. The simulation helps students in the initial phases of their marketing courses to improve their knowledge and to apply it to the real world and real business.

MyMarketingExperience is ideal for students helping them to work in teams, take decisions and creates a real sense of rivalry therefore making it an attractive and rich learning experience. At the same time the simulation develops social competences such as effective communication and critical thinking.
